The Waterhouse at South Bund Shanghai
Now this is a different hotel lobby. Put something new in and leave the old.
It's part of a new hotel in Shanghai a great transition from exterior to interior.

As my mother would probably say "it will be nice when it's finished"!!
I would say a lot of customers double take with the same thoughts when they check in.
sallyanne - how funny...
this has been doing a few round son a few blogs and i've not had a chance to comment i don't think...
what a scheme...the designer created a very interesting connection between the old and new, its almost seamless but its ackowledged at the same time...
Still really like it. There is a connection here to other things such as the James Plumb piece I posted. It's in the archive. The reception and the James Plumb installations have a real veneer of age. As a designer it must be good to just let things be with minimal intervention. Well they did have a fantastic volume to work with.
