Dutch Gold

This is the new interpretive centre in the Groninger Museum in Holland. Its the work of Jaime Hayon.
To me it is the antithesis of Flat pack, putting those legs on the desks lightens them. The colour scheme is really bright also, and the polished copper lamps, well polished copper is one of the prime finishes at the moment.
The flat table display could be a large I pad and the cowls over the screens draw you in. I love it, cool and quirky. This little job has brightened up my day.

Mood Board for the Year

Here I am at the end of 2010 blogging since June and still at it.  Sitting in my office writing about what I find inspiring in the world of design could be like shouting into the void. But knowing people are reading posts makes it worth while.
I have had support and interaction over the months and I enjoy reading your comments.

I'd like to thank the following people for their interaction and comments this year.
Thanks to Esther at Curiousa and Curiousa, Richy at Custard by Design Sally-Anne at Treat. Mise at Pretty Far West. Thanks to my guest bloggers Alison Masters and Richy McCusker also thanks to The Guys at Come Over Sunday. and the people in that little list on the right that says followers.

The highlight of the year was our trip to the London Design Festival great to see the work of so many talented and driven people gathered together.

I've pulled together some photographs below that I've used or wanted to use on the blog. Its kind of a mood board for the year.

Have a good break and keep checking in.

Interior Design at the Tramshed

Last Saturday morning was spent at The Tramshed in Shoreditch. De la Espada took much of the ground floor. They are also agents for Autobahn who had some fine wire base standard lamps on show. Wire based pieces were ubiquitous during the festival with some lovely pieces on show at 100% Design by Decode. A little brief today as the office is very busy, But enjoy the pictures which are via De la Espada.

These sofas were very cosy. The perfect comfort stop for a  Saturday morning.

Interior Lighting, Edgy Fabric, Curiousa & Curiousa

Right who is up next in the roll call of people and companies that stood out on my recent trip to the London Design Festival. Quirky lights edgy fabric prints. curiousaandcuriousa is the work of Esther Patterson who works in Derbyshire. The aspects of her work that stood out were the coloured blown glass shades and the edgy fabric and paper prints. A dolls head moth or a girls head finch. There is room for these designs with me.

London Design Festival

I'm just back  from the London Design Festival and I managed to get through quite a lot while I was over . We ( I had the fine company of Mrs Seven ) started on Friday at 100% Design in Earls Court. Then on to Tent at the old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. Saturday morning was set aside for visiting Tramshed in Shoreditch. The One Room Hotel was the highlight of the remainder of Saturday. On Friday night we had dinner at Les Trois Garcons and drinks at Lounge Lover and finally home to The Hoxton Hotel. I will get through the highlights of the trip but first up its the work of Zoe Murphy who exhibited at Tent. She Upcycles pieces of furniture she comes across using screen printed designs based on her home town of Margate. The work had a lovely crisp printed and lacquered finish to it. Mid Century Modern brought back to vibrant life.
