Good morning from a frosty Dublin. I have been writing pieces about design from around the world for quite a while now. Some of you who read this blog regularly have asked what my own work is like. This is my first post on my own work. The featured interior project Lost Society, Dublin was a collaborative effort with Nelson O'Neill Architects. We took what was originally a 1700s Dublin Town House and set a bar and night club into it. The space has had various uses throughout its history including a bar. Working with a building that is essentially a protected structure presented challenges especially with a minimal amount of fixing allowed. But I think we respected the work of the original Georgian craftsmen.

Interactive counter top.
I came across this interactive counter top on the FX News YouTube Channel. A great idea for Night Clubs. I have started a collection of films on lighting effects on my own YouTube Channel. The link is there on the side. The office is really busy at the moment with projects on site coming to completion. So hopefully soon I will have some photos up to let you know what we have been up to.

Magic and Light
Over the last few days I've been catching up on developments in effects lighting. The clip below is an installation by LiteMagic and its pretty sophisticated.
It shows a great combination of colour changing LED lights washing down through voile mixed
with LED panel step illumination and some LED strip lighting to the ceiling. Perfect for Retail or Night Clubs or if you live in Hollywood, your bathroom.
There are more clips of effects lighting under night club lighting on my YouTube.

Vanity Night Club Vegas
While I'm in a Club frame of mind I have to bring this one to you. I have already posted a link but the pictures deserve to go up here. We're all living leaner lives with less cash about but I just love the sheer opulence of this Vegas Club. The pictures say it all.

Nightclub Design
All of my recent pieces have been very retro, 1950s in fact, so its time to have a look at something bang up to date. The images are from Club BlackBox in Romania . The club is very Tron. If you have seen that 1982 film you'll know what I mean.
Designing with colour in very low light levels can be difficult. These guys have a good use of fluorescent UV reflected colour here. I did say its new but like allot of design at the moment it has a distinct fluorescent 1980s feel which works. La Roux must be a regular selection on the decks here.
I came across Cub BlackBox on the Modern Architecture and Design News site, well worth a look.
The images are from the designers, Parasite Studio great name

Mediterranian Night
Here are a couple of images of the newly opened Mo Club in Nicosia. I really love the muted modern palette and clean lines. The printed images and gravity defying pigs add just enough contrast. The design is by Pericles Liatsos a truly baroque name. The Pics are from the Mo Club site.
